I often read Five Minutes Peace to the kids not because I particularly like the book but I hope that one day they will get the hint! With Charley now a very confident crawler I have 2 little shadows following me everywhere. They have invaded my bed, join me at every toilet occasion and now both want to shower with me. I am a huge believer in keeping your kids close but this could be classed as stalking.
Room For A Little One ???
The situation hasn’t been helped by the school holiday’s & my hubby working away during the week. This has meant me and the kids have had LOTS & LOTS of time together. To keep them occupied I have accepted every play date, attended every free event and covered my conservatory in paint & glitter making crafts. I secretly think my hubby likes working away, staying in a hotel with a bed all to himself, no sleep thieves kicking him in his back and enjoying a hot meal & a beer every night without being interrupted 20 times for a glass of milk, to read a story book or stop World War 3 breaking out over a stuffed bear. Like Mrs Large from the book I would occasionally like to take a bath in the morning instead of 9p.m at night and eat a whole piece of cake to myself and God Forbid drink a hot cup of tea. With Harry off to school in 2 weeks & me going back to work my Five Minutes’ Peace is going to be non-existent as Harry will need to practice his reading and some type of musical instrument will be taking up home with us (Lord, please not a recorder) and the temptation for both kids too join me in my bath will be too much. My only hope is that I too can escape to the kitchen like Mrs Large for 3 minutes and forty-five seconds (before they find me!)
You have never heard of it ? It’s a classic. Its actually a really funny story and Mrs Large is every mummy with a child under 5 years old . Thanks for the comments XXX
Hmmm do we really believe that Mrs Large had tea in that cup, I’m not so sure. I reckon she needed something stronger to get her through the day. I hear you loud and clear though, I am currently being stalked by the 3 year old. She starts nursery on Thursday for 2 days a week, I’m already making plans to have lots of long baths and cups of ‘tea’ I will be like a wrinkled prune in no time ha ha.
Great post!

I have been served gin in a teapot before at a fancy bar ! Maybe Mrs Large is a frolic like the rest of us . My youngest has her taster session at nursery tomorrow 😢 After all this stalking I think I’m going to have separation anxiety. Thanks for commenting. Enjoy your boozy baths 💋😘
I do love Five Minutes Peace. I read it to my 4 and 6 year old in the hope that they will one day begin to understand it and give me some peace! The amount of times my 4 year old sits outside the toilet door to talk to me about Star Wars baffles me! Well here’s hoping for both of us! #justanotherlinky
Haha – never seen the book or 5 minutes peace! I have a 2yr old and 3yr old & have always been a SAHM with them all the time. I am now recently also a single mum so REALLY with them all the time! Still, once move, will now need to look for work – may at least get a tea break there? 😀

I had a little chuckle to myself when I read the word ‘stalking’. I think that a fair assessment of it. Poor you. I regularly get stalked by my crawling one year old, she loves following me around the house. She’s too small to get in our bed yet but I’m sure it won’t be long. Good luck with going back to work. Thanks for linking up at #fortheloveofBLOG. Claire x
Your post made me smile. Hope your little ones take the hint soon 🙂
