Don’t Kid yourself that dressing the mini people in Xmas themed outfits will make them feel ‘Christmassy’. Nothing will stop these kids from moaning.
Don’t fantasise that carrying the youngest in a sling will mean you can lovingly hold hands with your 4-year-old while shopping. What will actually happen is the youngest will spend the whole trip sticking their fingers up your nose and the 4-year-old will not only refuse to hold your hand but will also practice his Usain Bolt impression whenever you get near a road.
Don’t think just because you asked the 4yr old what he wanted to do today and he answered ‘ buy some Christmas Decorations’ he actually wanted to go and buy any. Instead what he wanted you to do is get everyone ready , drive to the next town , walk to the shops , pick decorations and then throw a full-scale tantrum at the checkout as you are paying (total waste of £30 ) because he wanted to go to the ‘ Bouncy Place’ and not shopping !!!
Don’t forget that even though you checked 6 times if the 4-year-old needed a wee before you left the house he will need to go twice during the 20 minutes you are in the shop.
Don’t after scooping the 4 year old off the floor, snapping the strap on the baby sling ( so you now need to hold the youngest in place ) , struggle to carry 2 bags of decorations while guiding the 4 yr old by the hood of his coat to the car , DON’T put the decorations on the pavement while you strap the youngest into the car seat because what will now happen is the 4 yr old will trip over , fall onto the bags and break all the baubles and squash the cream cake you have just purchased to ease the pain of the last hour.
The Moral of this story is just don’t , never ever , ever again !!!
Sounds about right ! One of those things which you imagine will be lovely and festive and heartwarming. But in reality is stressful, boring and a regrettable ! #kcacols
Yep, I’d go along with all this, mine would kick off at the thought of any form of shopping, thought they did like going just to see Christmas decorations and displays #KCACOLS
Kids are so unpredictable! They tell you they want to do something and actually they wanted to do something else 🙂 I love doing Christmas shopping but shops getting so busy, I sometimes find it a bit stressful, and I can’t imagine shopping with my little ones 🙂 So Amazon is my best shopping destination 🙂 #KCACOLS
I am yet to do it for the first time with Baba this year! You are not selling it to me! I will just bribe him with lots of milk so he sleeps as much as possible and will take a friend with me so that I am not the only one suffering lol #SundayBest
Hahaha brilliant post!! I love Christmas shopping with my little boy, but I’m forever waiting anxiously for the “THIS IS BORING” quote. Urgh. I mainly do my Christmas shopping online mainly for this reason! Will be a lot harder this year if I was to go out shopping as I’ll have my 7 month old daughter with me! It’s calling for disaster! Haha #KCACOLS xxx
Haha! I very rarely take my 2 year old anywhere near a shop anymore, and if I do I have to bribe her with a biscuit to stop her from running off! Thank god for the internet! #KCACOLS
Oh dear I feel your pain and I mourn that cream cake!! When that is said this was a great read had me giggling way louder than I should when attempting to get my little one to nap! Online shopping is the best thing ever! xx
I love this! Kids are hilarious. Shopping with my 3 is something I do rarely unless the husband is home to help me. Otherwise I wait til big 2 are at school and just keep the toddler entertained with 18 packets of crisps! 🙂 *weeps* xx #SundayBest
Oh my word I know I shouldn’t laugh at others misfortune but I did have a giggle as I was reading this! The bit about having youngest pick your nose is what got me! I’ve had that happen to me and it’s not pleasant! Thanks for linking up with #KCACOLS and hope to see you again soon x
Ha ha ha I could have written this post myself – including the falling over an wrecking all the newly purchased decorations. I love how the idealistic view of parenting totally clouds out judgement when we make the decision to do these things! #eatsleepblogrt
