Our Family Day Out To Madame Tussauds Blackpool #AD

Last weekend we got to play holidaymakers in our home town and visit Madame Tussauds Blackpool. It was very exciting as this was the first-time visiting Madame Tussauds Blackpool as a family and both the kids were excited to see the MARVEL SUPER HEROES area.

Dr Who

We started our visit by meeting Dr Who star Jodie Whittaker and having photos taken next to the Tardis. Harry has watched a few episodes over the years and he loved seeing the Daleks up close. Both me and Lee are huge Dr Who fans so when we were given the opportunity to dress up and be the DR we were fighting over who went first. You get to take your own photo against a green screen and then you are given a QR code to view it on your phone. I am really pleased the Madame Tussauds Blackpool decided to celebrate the 1st female Dr Who. Girl Power is a theme that runs through the whole attraction.

Sporting Heroes Academy

We have some of the world’s best sports stars and athletes in the UK and the Sporting Heroes Academy showcases their individual talents brilliantly. The Academy features Britain’s greatest sporting legends such as Nicola Adams, Mo Farrah and Lewis Hamilton. Visitors can get up close and personal with their favourite stars in this immersive & interactive space. Harry and Lee both enjoyed playing on in Lazer Maze and Charley took a very big shine to Mo Farrah. So much so she refused to get off the winner’s platform. This area is great for inspiring little people into sport. Harry not usually one for playing football was scoring goals, right, left and centre on the virtual football pitch and Charley jumped straight into the ring with Nicola Adams for a quick round of sparing.

The MARVEL SUPER HEROES area was the one we had most been looking forward to visiting and it didn’t disappoint. We are HUGE fans of Marvel and I could have spent 2 hours just having pictures and interacting with all the characters. Thor is a favourite of mine and me and Charley were straight over to him. No expense has been spared in the MARVEL SUPER HEROES area as you feel like you are on set with each character. There are so many photo opportunities and chances to get up close and interact with the Character and surroundings. This area reminded me of our trip to Universal Studios in Florida. New to the MARVEL SUPER HERO wax figure collection and carrying on the ‘girl power ‘ theme is Captain Marvel. Introduced just before International Women’s Day, Captain Marvel is a former US Airforce pilot who rose to security director at NASA, she embodies strength and achievement to inspire women across the world. Being a Super Hero is no longer a man’s job.

Rover’s Return

One for the dads!! Lee was over the moon when he realised they sold actual pint at the Rovers Return. The perfect 1/2 waypoint to have a sit in the Rovers Return, a drink and look at all the Coronation Street stars from over the years. Having never pulled a pint in my life, I let Bet show me the ropes. Just outside the pub is also a replica of the cobble street complete with Jack & Vera. One for the older visitors in the group, this was a nice trip down memory lane. Oh, and Lee said the pint was good too.

Musical Stars

This area was brilliant for all of us with stars featured from 50 years ago to the present day.  Uber Interactive you can’t help dancing along to Ariana Grande or striking a pose with Freddie Mercury. There were plenty of instruments to play and microphones on hand for singing. The mix of the old and the new complemented each other and the rich history of the UK & US bands had Harry entertained for a full 45 minutes.

Over All Thoughts

There is so much to see and do at Madame Tussauds Blackpool. As it was our 1st visit I didn’t really know what to expect but you can easily entertain the kids in the attraction for 2-3 hours. We visited last Saturday at the height of the season, so I was expecting crowds and to queue for pictures. I am very pleased to say that there were plenty of people visiting last Saturday but at no point did we wait any longer than 30 seconds to get our picture with any of the wax figures. Madame Tussauds Blackpool is huge with all the areas spaced out, so you never felt crowded.

The wax figures were remarkably lifelike, and I may have given Dec a quick peck on the cheek. Well, it’s the nearest I will ever come to the real Dec.

The main reason I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending a day at Madame Tussauds Blackpool is my 2 get bored very easily and there was so much to see, and do it was me & Lee dragging them out in the end when it was time to go home.

Overall, we loved our day out and will be going back to visit Madame Tussauds Blackpool. It’s a great attraction for all the family and with its ever-changing and updating of areas each visit will be like our first.
