The Hockey Heroes sessions are run by trained coaches and parents/careers are welcomed onto the pitch each week to take part in the 5 minutes warm-up with their kids. Every one of the six 1hr sessions has a different focus. The kids are taught dribbling, passing, goal-scoring, along with skills to develop their character including teamwork, perseverance, communication and respect. Each focus helps unlock their inner superhero powers and at the end of each session, they are rewarded with special superhero stickers for their hockey sticks.

Harry at Hockey Heroes

Harry has enjoyed learning to play hockey for the first time and its a sport that welcomes both boys and girls of all shape, size or ability. As Harry is one of the eldest attending the sessions he has been helping some of the younger attendees by practising with them before the sessions. Its been great not only to see Harry’s skill and focus increase over the weeks but also his confidence. At the first session, he was a little hesitant as he didn’t know anyone but by week 2 he was happy to get straight into the session and enjoy himself. There have been so many benefits to Harry attending the Hockey Heroes sessions. It has encouraged him to get active away from his Playstation, making new friends of all ages, It’s built his confidence, and best of all he has done this all while having fun and learning a new sport.
